Templeton Garden London Kensington

Nestled in Kensington, a stone’s throw away from Earl’s Court, Templeton Garden is Miiro Hotels’ debut UK property—a 156‑room boutique retreat combining Victorian architecture with contemporary elegance. Centered around a serene, private garden, it offers guests a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city.

The Brief

Commissioned by Miiro Hotels, Leaflike was engaged to design, install, and maintain a biophilic planting scheme that enriched both the hotel’s interior public spaces and its exterior gardens. Working alongside architects Holland & Harvey and interior lead Thurstan Waterworth, Leaflike’s mission encompassed reception and communal areas, the front entrance, and the rear garden—the property’s verdant heart.

The Solution

Reception & Main Public Spaces

  • Anchor planters & foyers: Elegant, low- to mid-height planters with sculptural foliage were placed alongside reception desks, sofas, and library seating, bringing warmth and softness to the limestone and timber surfaces.

  • Dining & Bar areas (Pippin’s & Sprout): Lush greenery blends into the bar and restaurant spaces, with trailing vines, potted shrubs, and botanical accents that complement hand-painted murals and the oak‑branch chandelier—echoing interior art by Tess Newall and Cox London.

.

Front Entrance

  • A welcoming verdant threshold included stately outdoor pots and container plantings featuring evergreen shrubs and seasonal florals, marking the transition from urban streetscape to tranquil hotel oasis.

.

Rear Garden & Terrace

  • Reimagined as a modern Victorian orangery, the garden was landscaped with layered shrubbery, bowed planting beds, and intimate seating zones designed by Meeuwsen Muldoon. The space hosts tables for Pippin’s dining and the Sprout terrace—all infused with lush greenery reflective of the hotel’s English garden heritage.

.

All planting selections prioritized native and shade‑tolerant species, requiring minimal maintenance while enhancing seasonal interest and ecological value.

The Results

  • Architectural harmony: Plantings created a seamless connection between spaces—from entrance to garden—reinforcing the hotel’s architectural storytelling rooted in Victorian and garden conservatory traditions.

  • Enhanced guest experience: Touches of scent and greenery—fresh herbs near dining zones, tranquil lawn seating, artful planters in reception—elevated wellbeing and offered restful moments amid the city bustle.

  • Sustainable & resilient design: The exterior and interior plantings were carefully chosen for long-term resilience and ease of care, supporting the hotel’s environmental goals and reflecting Templeton Garden’s commitment to living heritage.

Leaflike’s biophilic design at Templeton Garden Hotel thoroughly enhanced the property’s indoor and outdoor environments—from the welcoming entrance and reception areas to the tranquil rear garden terrace. Our planting scheme enriched the guest experience, rooted the design in place and heritage, and upheld Miiro Hotels’ vision for a brilliantly considered and sustainable urban retreat in Kensington.
